Ukunda is located on the southeast coast of Kenya, about 30 km south of Mombasa towards Tanzania. The Gombato School had only one hut with flints for cooking the children's school lunch (school lunch is compulsory). The teachers who cook the food at the same time often had severe burns on their arms.
Through our member Niko Jäger, the International Committee: Journalists Help e.V. supported the Naimbala School (Naimbala Bandathtara Maha Vidyalaya, Thihagoda) at the end of 2010 with money for necessary electrical installations and a renovation of the run-down school rooms.
In 1998, a school kitchen, cafeteria/ classroom for 300 students in Posadas, Argentina. The project was initiated and supervised by committee member Maximilian Biagosch.
